Architecture and Direction

Our development efforts have always focused on delivering powerful business software, with an unparalleled depth of functionality, designed to support all of the specialized needs of our clients. From our earliest industry-specific applications written in Business Basic, and later Cobol, to the web-based applications that we develop today in JAVA, our primary objective is to provide our customers with the right technology and software functionality to achieve their business goals.

All of our current development initiatives revolve around the Frogfish Solutions suite, our comprehensive, web-based business application, which offers even more power, depth and flexibility than its legacy predecessor. By combining our leading vertical market functionality with the unlimited reach of the worldwide business web and flexible tools such as workflow design, we can help businesses adapt quickly and manage their businesses more effectively than ever before.

The R&D behind the Frogfish Solutions suite began in 2002, and we determined early on that the most certain and direct path to accomplishing our long-term strategy and vision started with JAVA as the primary development environment. All of our current development adheres to Java 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standards. The objective here was to deliver a full-featured, robust business software application that imposed no limitations on our clients relating to platform, scalability or interoperability with other software, databases and networks. The architecture is based on Apache Struts and implements the Model 2 approach, a variation of the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design paradigm. This programming methodology gives inherent flexibility to our development team, and it is the foundation for building an adaptable application. The architecture allows our customers to incorporate business-specific logic and workflow into their operations. This is a key to streamlining and optimizing business processes, which is critical in the survival and success of every modern business.

For the user interface, the application utilizes Java Server Pages (JSP) and Servlets. It also utilizes Java Scripts and VB Scripts at the client side. At the end-user level, our direction is very simple. It is to provide a sensible, fast and easily navigated interface that the user can understand. Software developers, in the haste to bring their applications to the web, have often overlooked these important features. With two decades of experience in business software, our team understands the importance of a well-conceived user interface, and we know that user acceptance is paramount to the success of any project.
